Short-term effects of labile organic C addition on soil microbial response to temperature in a temperate steppe

چکیده
It remains unclear how soil microbes respond to labile organic carbon (LOC) inputs and temperature sensitivity (Q10) of matter (SOM) decomposition is affected by LOC in a short-term. In this study, 13C-labeled glucose was added pristine grassland at four temperatures (10, 15, 20, 25 °C), the immediate utilization native SOM measured minutely We found that addition stimulated decomposition, elevated enhanced intensity microbial response addition. The ratio between respiration derived from increased with higher temperature, more for respiration. Additionally, Q10 than SOM. Overall, these findings emphasize important role C cycles.

Grazing can cause changes in soil carbon (C) level. This study aimed to elucidate the response of soil labile organic carbon (SLOC) under four different grazing intensities: non grazing (NG), 0 sheep·ha(-1); light grazing (LG), 0.91 sheep·ha(-1); moderate grazing (MG), 1.82 sheep·ha(-1), and heavy grazing (HG), 2.73 sheep·ha(-1). Results showed that there was no significant difference in total ...
متن کاملLight and Heavy Fractions of Soil Organic Matter in Response to Climate Warming and Increased Precipitation in a Temperate Steppe
Soil is one of the most important carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) pools and plays a crucial role in ecosystem C and N cycling. Climate change profoundly affects soil C and N storage via changing C and N inputs and outputs. However, the influences of climate warming and changing precipitation regime on labile and recalcitrant fractions of soil organic C and N remain unclear. Here, we investigated so...
متن کاملEffects of Nitrogen Addition and Fire on Plant Nitrogen Use in a Temperate Steppe
Plant nitrogen (N) use strategies have great implications for primary production and ecosystem nutrient cycling. Given the increasing atmospheric N deposition received by most of the terrestrial ecosystems, understanding the responses of plant N use would facilitate the projection of plant-mediated N cycling under global change scenarios. The effects of N deposition on plant N use would be affe...
متن کاملLiving roots magnify the response of soil organic carbon decomposition to temperature in temperate grassland
Increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2 ) concentration is both a strong driver of primary productivity and widely believed to be the principal cause of recent increases in global temperature. Soils are the largest store of the world's terrestrial C. Consequently, many investigations have attempted to mechanistically understand how microbial mineralisation of soil organic carbon (SOC) to CO2...
